Colts Cruise by Patriots by Just a Whisker. One Decision Makes Shane Steichen Look Like a High-Stakes Gambler.
It was a Sunday showdown fit for a Hollywood thriller, as the Colts eked out a 25-24 win against the Patriots. With the Patriots hogging possession like a dog with the last piece of bacon, you'd think they’d make more than three field goals out of their red-zone visits. But, alas, their offensive line threw more flags than a carnival, and four holding penalties kept them stuck in reverse. After a heart-stopping interception in the endzone by Julian Blackmon, the Patriots decided to generate suspense, allowing the Colts one last shot. In the final countdown, Shane Steichen whipped out his playbook's ‘YOLO’ page, going for a two-point conversion instead of a tie. Anthony Richardson delivered like the mailman on his best day, eventually bringing home the win. And as the Patriots' Joey Slye's 68-yard field goal attempt fell short – much like my attempts at DIY plumbing – Colts fans were left dancing in the aisles.
